NLS at SJC

Silicon Valley's home airport.

SJC sits at the geographic center of Silicon Valley — 10 minutes from Palo Alto, 12 from Mountain View, 15 from Cupertino. For tech executives, SJC isn't the alternative to SFO. It's the default.

Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport serves Silicon Valley as its primary commercial gateway. Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, Google's campus in Mountain View, Stanford in Palo Alto, the Sand Hill Road venture corridor in Menlo Park — all of them are closer to SJC than to SFO, and the time savings compound across a working week of trips. For the executives who fly weekly, SJC adds up to days of reclaimed time across a year.

SJC runs two terminals — Terminal A for most domestic carriers (American, Delta, United, JetBlue) plus international service, and Terminal B for Southwest and Alaska. Both are easy to navigate; gate-to-curb is typically under ten minutes. The result: less time in transit, more time at your desk, your meeting, or your dinner.

NLS Transportation operates SJC as one of our most account-services-heavy airports. Many of our long-standing corporate accounts route every executive arrival through SJC by default. The protocol is tuned for travelers who don't want to think about ground transportation — they want it to be there, on time, every time. We've been refining that protocol since 1989.

How It Works at SJC

From jet bridge to wheels.

Two pickup options. Both flight-tracked. Both fast — this is a small, well-run airport.

Default · Included

Curbside Pickup

The standard SJC transfer protocol — terminal curb, designated commercial vehicle zone.

  1. Booking confirmed. Dispatch begins tracking your flight 24 hours before departure.
  2. Your chauffeur is on-site 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled landing — 30 minutes for corporate accounts.
  3. The moment your plane touches down, you receive an SMS from your chauffeur with their exact location.
  4. You walk out to the designated commercial vehicle pickup zone for your terminal; your chauffeur greets you with luggage assistance.
Best for: tech executives flying weekly, frequent business travelers, carry-on or single checked bag, return-trip regulars on corporate accounts.
Optional · On Request

Baggage Claim Meet & Greet

A more personalized arrival. Your chauffeur waits inside, holding an NLS sign with your name.

  1. Your chauffeur enters the terminal and positions at baggage claim for your flight, holding signage.
  2. You're greeted on arrival; your chauffeur assists with all luggage from the carousel.
  3. Together you walk to short-term parking where your vehicle is staged — typically a 5 to 10 minute walk.
  4. Departure is door-to-door from baggage claim onward.
Best for: international arrivals at Terminal A, visiting executives unfamiliar with SJC, elderly travelers, travelers with mobility considerations, significant luggage, or simply a more hands-on welcome.

SJC Frequently Asked Questions

Common SJC questions.

The questions we hear most often about San Jose Mineta International transfers. For anything else, our 24/7 concierge is the fastest path to an answer.

Where will my chauffeur meet me at SJC?
By default, your chauffeur will meet you curbside at the designated commercial vehicle pickup zone for your terminal (Terminal A or Terminal B). NLS dispatch tracks your flight in real time, and your chauffeur sends you an SMS with their exact location the moment your plane touches down. Baggage-claim meet-and-greet with signage is available on request.
Is SJC the best airport for Silicon Valley destinations?
For most Silicon Valley destinations, SJC is the fastest option door-to-door. The airport is centrally positioned within the Valley — 10 to 15 minutes from Palo Alto, Mountain View, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, and Los Gatos. For destinations north of San Mateo (San Francisco, Marin), SFO is usually the better choice. For destinations east of the Diablo Range (Walnut Creek, Lafayette), OAK is typically faster.
Does NLS serve Atlantic Aviation and Signature Aviation at SJC?
Yes. SJC hosts two major FBO operators — Atlantic Aviation and Signature Aviation — both heavily used for Silicon Valley executive and private aviation traffic. NLS chauffeurs are credentialed at both FBOs and coordinate directly with flight crews on private aviation arrivals. Specify "FBO arrival" plus the FBO name (Atlantic or Signature) when booking, along with your tail number or charter details.
Which terminal does SJC use?
SJC has two terminals — Terminal A (used by most domestic carriers including American, Delta, United, JetBlue, and international carriers) and Terminal B (Southwest and Alaska). Both are easy to navigate and significantly less complex than larger airports. Your booking confirmation will indicate which terminal to expect; if uncertain, our 24/7 concierge can clarify.
How long does the transfer from SJC to my destination take?
Typical SJC transfer times: 10 minutes to downtown San Jose, 15 minutes to Palo Alto, 12 minutes to Mountain View, 15 minutes to Cupertino, 15 minutes to Sunnyvale, 12 minutes to Menlo Park, 20 minutes to Stanford, 25 minutes to Los Gatos or Saratoga, and 45 minutes to downtown San Francisco via 101. Tech-corridor rush hour can extend these significantly.
Does NLS work with tech corporate accounts at SJC?
Yes. NLS has extensive corporate accounts with Silicon Valley companies — direct billing, dedicated account managers, COIs on request, NDA-bound chauffeurs, and recurring service profiles for executives who travel weekly. SJC is a heavy account-services airport for us. For program inquiries, contact corporate@nlstrans.com or call our 24/7 concierge.
How does the baggage claim meet-and-greet work at SJC?
Your chauffeur enters the terminal and waits at baggage claim holding an NLS sign with your name. After greeting you, they assist with all luggage from the carousel. From baggage claim, you walk together to short-term parking where the vehicle is staged — typically a 5 to 10 minute walk. Most often requested by international arrivals at Terminal A, travelers with significant luggage, elderly travelers, or travelers with mobility considerations.
Do you track my flight in real time?
Yes. NLS dispatch begins tracking your flight 24 hours before scheduled departure. If your flight is delayed, your chauffeur is automatically notified and adjusts arrival time. There is no charge for wait time caused by delayed commercial flights. The moment your plane touches down, you receive an SMS from your chauffeur with their location.
Can I book a return transfer to SJC?
Yes. Return transfers to SJC are standard NLS bookings. For Silicon Valley pickups, we recommend booking departures with a 2-hour pickup-to-flight window for domestic and 2.5 hours for international. SJC's smaller size means faster security and gate access than SFO.
