NLS at SFO

Our home airport.

SFO is the most-served airport in the NLS book — more daily arrivals and departures than any other in our network. For 37 years, we've watched the terminals get rebuilt and the commercial pickup zones get repositioned. We know exactly where to be, and exactly when to be there.

San Francisco International serves the entire Bay Area as its primary commercial gateway, with daily traffic to virtually every domestic hub and the largest international footprint on the West Coast outside LAX. For NLS Transportation, SFO is the spine of our service — corporate executives flying weekly, tech leaders catching late-night returns, families arriving for vacation, and private aviation clients landing at Signature Aviation SFO, where we maintain direct FBO (Fixed Base Operator) status.

Whether you're arriving at Terminal 1 from a domestic flight, clearing customs at the International Terminal, or taxiing to Signature on a private jet, the protocol is the same: your chauffeur is tracking your flight in real time, arrives 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled landing, and texts you the moment your wheels touch the ground.

How It Works at SFO

From jet bridge to wheels.

Two pickup options for commercial arrivals. A third for private aviation. All of them flight-tracked, none of them charged for delays.

Default · Included

Curbside Pickup

The standard SFO transfer protocol — the way most of our clients arrive home or to their meeting.

  1. Booking confirmed. Dispatch begins tracking your flight 24 hours before departure.
  2. Your chauffeur is on-site 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled landing — 30 minutes for corporate accounts.
  3. The moment your plane touches down, you receive an SMS from your chauffeur with their exact location.
  4. You walk out to the designated commercial vehicle pickup zone for your terminal; your chauffeur greets you with luggage assistance.
Best for: domestic arrivals, frequent business travelers, anyone with carry-on or a single checked bag, return-trip regulars.
Optional · On Request

Baggage Claim Meet & Greet

A more personalized arrival. Your chauffeur waits inside, holding an NLS sign with your name.

  1. Your chauffeur enters the terminal and positions at baggage claim for your flight, holding signage.
  2. You're greeted on arrival; your chauffeur assists with all luggage from the carousel.
  3. Together you walk to short-term parking where your vehicle is staged — typically a 5 to 10 minute walk.
  4. Departure is door-to-door from baggage claim onward.
Best for: international arrivals (Terminals A and G), elderly travelers, travelers with mobility considerations, significant luggage, first-time visitors to SFO, or simply a more hands-on welcome.

SFO Frequently Asked Questions

Common SFO questions.

The questions we hear most often about San Francisco International transfers. For anything else, our 24/7 concierge is the fastest path to an answer.

Where will my chauffeur meet me at SFO?
By default, your chauffeur will meet you curbside at the designated commercial vehicle pickup zone for your terminal. NLS dispatch tracks your flight in real time, and your chauffeur sends you an SMS with their exact location the moment your plane touches down. Baggage-claim meet-and-greet with signage is available on request — see the "How It Works" section above for details.
How does the baggage claim meet-and-greet work at SFO?
Your chauffeur enters the terminal and waits at baggage claim holding an NLS sign with your name. After greeting you, they assist with all luggage from the carousel. From baggage claim, you walk together to short-term parking where the vehicle is staged — typically a 5 to 10 minute walk. The meet-and-greet is most often requested by international arrivals, travelers with significant luggage, elderly travelers, travelers with mobility considerations, and clients who prefer a more hands-on welcome.
Does NLS serve Signature Aviation SFO and other FBOs?
Yes. NLS maintains direct FBO operating status at Signature Aviation San Francisco — one of the most trafficked private aviation terminals in California. Planeside or FBO-entrance pickup is available on request, with coordination directly with your flight crew. For Hayward (HWD), Concord (CCR), and other Bay Area FBOs, our chauffeurs are credentialed and routed for proper access. Specify "FBO arrival" when booking and provide the FBO name and your tail number or charter details.
How long does the transfer from SFO to my destination take?
Typical SFO transfer times: 25 minutes to downtown San Francisco, 30 minutes to Pacific Heights or the Marina, 35 minutes to Palo Alto, 45 minutes to Mountain View, 40 minutes to Sausalito, 45 to 60 minutes to Berkeley or Oakland depending on bridge traffic, 75 minutes to Napa, and 90 minutes to Sonoma. Friday afternoon and Sunday evening commute times can extend these significantly. See the Common Destinations section above for a full route table.
Do you track my flight in real time?
Yes. NLS dispatch begins tracking your flight 24 hours before scheduled departure. If your flight is delayed, your chauffeur is automatically notified and adjusts arrival time. There is no charge for wait time caused by delayed commercial flights. The moment your plane touches down, you receive an SMS from your chauffeur with their location.
What about international arrivals at SFO?
For international arrivals at SFO (Terminals A and G — the International Terminal), we strongly recommend the baggage-claim meet-and-greet option. Customs and immigration timing varies and having your chauffeur waiting inside with signage removes coordination friction. Real-time flight tracking accounts for international arrival timing differences. Specify "International arrival" when booking.
Can I book a return transfer to SFO?
Yes. Return transfers to SFO are standard NLS bookings — same vehicle classes, same chauffeur professionalism. For corporate accounts and frequent flyers, NLS will pre-position your chauffeur 30 minutes before scheduled pickup to absorb traffic variability. We recommend booking departures with at least a 2.5 hour pickup-to-flight window for domestic and a 3 hour window for international.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled pickup time may incur a cancellation fee equal to the base transfer rate. No-shows are charged at 100% of the booked service. To avoid fees, cancel at least 24 hours in advance by calling +1 (650) 364-0118 or emailing reservations@nlstrans.com.
