NLS in Wine Country

From Bay Area to Wine Country.

Napa Valley is one of the most-visited destinations in California, and one of the most-misnavigated. Winding access roads, limited parking, weekend traffic on Highway 29, and the timing requirements of tasting reservations all reward a chauffeur who knows the geography. NLS has been driving Napa and Sonoma since 1989.

For most of NLS's Wine Country clients, the day begins in the Bay Area and ends in the Bay Area. We pick up from San Francisco, the Peninsula, or Silicon Valley between 9 and 10 AM, drive the 50 to 90 minutes to Napa or Sonoma, spend the day visiting wineries with a coordinated lunch, and return in the early evening. The Bay Area drive is part of the booking. Clients don't pay separate transfer fees on top of the tour rate.

Beyond Wine Country tours, NLS coordinates substantial Napa Valley wedding work, long-distance transfers to luxury Napa and Sonoma hotels (Auberge du Soleil, Meadowood, Carneros Resort, Hotel Healdsburg), corporate hospitality programs, and the visiting-VIP transportation that hospitality teams in the valley rely on for their highest-tier guests.

Our chauffeurs know which routes avoid weekend traffic, which wineries pace well together in a tour, where the lunch reservations should fall in the day's flow, and how to read when your group is ready to leave a tasting or wants to stay longer. That kind of regional knowledge compounds across years of service.

How We Operate Here

The NLS Wine Country model.

Bay Area-originating, Wine Country-fluent.

NLS operates from our Peninsula hub in Redwood City, with established Los Angeles County coverage. We don't maintain a dedicated Napa Valley garage. Instead, our chauffeurs and vehicles arrive in the valley with the client as part of the integrated booking.

This works because most Wine Country work originates in the Bay Area. Clients are picked up in San Francisco, the Peninsula, or Silicon Valley; the chauffeur is with them through the day; and the same chauffeur returns them home in the evening. Continuity matters for Wine Country experiences.

For multi-day Napa or Sonoma experiences (typical with weddings or extended hospitality programs), we coordinate chauffeur lodging at modest properties near the venue. Lodging and per-diem expenses are passed through at cost on the final invoice.

For trips originating in the valleys themselves, for example a luxury hotel guest needing transportation to a winery dinner without a Bay Area pickup, we coordinate either through repositioning a Bay Area chauffeur or through trusted certified affiliates with equivalent service standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Wine Country questions.

Does NLS provide chauffeur service throughout Napa Valley and Sonoma County?
Yes. NLS provides premium chauffeured service throughout Napa Valley (St. Helena, Calistoga, Yountville, Rutherford, Oakville, the city of Napa) and across Sonoma County (Healdsburg, Russian River Valley, the town of Sonoma). Service extends to the surrounding wine country including Carneros, the Silverado Trail, Howell Mountain, Alexander Valley, and Dry Creek Valley. We coordinate from our Peninsula hub with deep operational familiarity with Wine Country venues and routes.
What is NLS's most common Napa Valley service?
Wine country tours are the most common Napa Valley booking. Typically full-day curated tours from a Bay Area pickup, covering 3 to 4 wineries with a lunch stop. Wedding transportation at Napa vineyards is the second most common, followed by long-distance transfers from the Bay Area to Napa luxury hotels (Auberge du Soleil, Meadowood, Carneros Resort).
How long is the drive from the Bay Area to Napa Valley?
From San Francisco to Napa is approximately 50 miles, 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic. From the Peninsula or Silicon Valley, allow 1.5 to 2 hours. From the East Bay, typically 1 hour. NLS includes the round-trip Bay Area drive in our hourly Wine Country tour pricing.
Can NLS coordinate Napa Valley wedding transportation?
Yes. Napa Valley vineyard weddings are an NLS specialty. We coordinate bride and groom transfers, wedding party shuttling, family transportation, and guest shuttle service between accommodations and venue. We have operational familiarity with major Napa wedding venues including Auberge du Soleil, Beaulieu Garden, Carneros Resort, Meadowood, and the Black Swan Lake estates.
Do you have direct relationships with Napa wineries for tasting reservations?
NLS works with concierge partners and maintains direct relationships with vintners across Napa Valley. For high-demand wineries (Screaming Eagle, Harlan Estate, Opus One), advance planning through our team helps secure tastings. We're equally happy to drive a tour you've planned independently with your own reservations.
What vehicles work best for Napa Valley?
Cadillac Escalade SUV is the most popular Napa Valley vehicle, comfortable for 1 to 6 passengers with cargo capacity for wine purchases. For couples or solo travelers, a Mercedes S-Class sedan offers a more intimate experience. For groups of 7 to 14 (wedding parties, milestone celebrations), Sprinter vans with conference seating work well.
Can you handle multi-day Napa Valley experiences?
Yes. Multi-day Napa programs typically combine night one at a Wine Country property (Auberge du Soleil, Carneros Resort, Meadowood), 2 to 3 days of tastings across multiple appellations, and meaningful meals at valley restaurants. Hotel and chauffeur accommodations are coordinated as part of the planning.
Do you serve clients arriving at SFO or OAK heading directly to Napa?
Yes. Direct transfers from SFO, OAK, or SJC to Napa Valley luxury hotels are common, one of our most-booked long-distance routes. Real-time flight tracking is included; the chauffeur monitors arrival and meets clients at baggage claim or curbside as preferred.
